Informatic pharmacists, also known as IT Pharmacist jobs are growing and are always in demand. While we do not have a lot of these types of positions available, we do get them from time to time. As hospital pharmacies continue to advance the level of technology available within their facilities, the area of Pharmacist Informatics is going to continue to grow. Pharmacy Informatics is a very attractive and very specialized area of Clinical Pharmacy. With the advent of Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), it is going to become more and more common to see these types of pharmacist job openings. Most hospitals that are on the market for an IT Pharmacist are going to want experienced Informatic Pharmacists. While this is an area of great interest to many clinical pharmacists, training is rarely going to be an option. Meditech, Eclypsis, and Cerner Millennium appear to be at the head of the pack, but if a pharmacist is an Informatics Pharmacist for their current hospital regardless of the system that they are currently working with, the majority of hospitals with a need for a Clinical Informatic Pharmacist will most likely consider them. The shifts for these positions are primarily day shift working from Monday to Friday and usually no weeks, except in cases of emergencies.
